The solution for the reconstruction and expansion of the Radiology Center at Riga East Clinical University Hospital is designed to broaden the range of diagnostic services, optimize patient and staff flows, and implement enhanced infection control capabilities. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing building of block 6 and the addition of a new structure, providing separate entrances for inpatients, outpatients, and infectious patients, as well as for staff.
The functional plan allows for easy access to the examination rooms, the ability to transport patients in beds, and specially equipped areas for the care of infectious patients with easily disinfectable surfaces. The addition integrates modern technological and engineering systems, including energy-efficient ventilation and cooling equipment.
The façade solution harmonizes with the existing architecture of the hospital, using concrete, brick cladding, and metal slats. The project adheres to universal design principles – barrier-free movement, tactile indicators, contrasting colors, and accessibility for individuals with mobility impairments. The solution combines functionality, safety, and sustainability, strengthening the hospital's capacity to meet the demands of modern medicine.
