The reconstruction project of Edgars Kauliņš at Lielvārde Secondary School addresses the long-awaited need to adapt the school facilities to modern pedagogy and safety standards. The project focuses primarily on the renovation of the interior and engineering networks, the reconfiguration of the layout, and the creation of new learning spaces, ensuring a functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for the building.
The construction work is structured in three phases to maintain the continuity of the school’s operations. The reconstruction of the central area with cloakrooms, teachers' rooms, and transformable classrooms serves as a foundation for the subsequent phases, followed by the renovation of the extension and the final work on the learning spaces and administrative block.
The building incorporates fire safety solutions – fire-resistant stairwells, EI-30 doors and compartments, as well as planned equipped evacuation options. The functionality is complemented by new sanitary facilities, including those for people with special needs, as well as acoustically adapted ceiling solutions. The project embodies a pragmatic architectural approach where the technical and aesthetic blend together, creating a modern learning environment with a focus on safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
