The project at Matīsa Street 8, in the historical center of Riga, was developed as a METS proposal aiming to create quality and context-based residential development with publicly accessible quarter space. The area, which historically housed the beverage manufacturing complex “Veldze”, has been transformed into a modern urban environment structure while still preserving references to industrial identity.

The architectural concept is rooted in the identity of the place – two newly built buildings are inspired by the historical brick constructions and factory forms. The facades dominate the subtly gray and black brick tones that harmoniously fit into the existing street landscape, not competing with the historical heritage.

A unique character is given by the accent material – metal finishes and roof structures in a burgundy tone. It is a symbolic reference to the quarter's historical function – beverage production, while giving the buildings an elegant and modern visual image.

Sustainability and green thinking permeate the entire project. The roofs are designed as "green roofs" with a lush cover that enhances the microclimate. Meanwhile, in the landscaping of the area – in the support walls and benches – historical bricks from demolished buildings are reused, preserving the place's "soul" and reducing construction waste.
