The expansion of the Infection Building designed at Rīga Eastern Clinical University Hospital addresses one of the most essential tasks – to ensure safe and modern patient admission in emergency medical circumstances. The project envisions a two-story extension above the existing underground hospital with a direct connection to the Emergency Medical Service and planned galleries, ensuring a logical and functional development of the area.
The architectural solution of the building emphasizes rational and energy-efficient forms, integrating glazed galleries and a striking entrance portal that creates visual recognition. The layout is based on the principle of two corridors, ensuring safe patient flow, isolation options, and high standards of epidemiological safety.
In addition, significant attention is paid to environmental accessibility – all public spaces are barrier-free, with contrasting markings and tactile signs. The project includes energy-efficient engineering networks, environmental protection solutions, and green areas with vegetation of varying heights.
This project embodies an integrated approach to architecture and medical infrastructure – simultaneously functional, safe, and aesthetic.
